Earthy Stuff

Enjoying the wonderful days! We have had a garden during all of our marriage (mostly for economic savings, but also for the great fresh produce!). The girls really love participating in planting and harvesting. Natalie has gotten big enough that last year and this year she has her own flower garden part too. We planted zinnas that we started from seed in the winter, plus the snapdragons were a blessing to come back after the winter. And, I found some impatiens and begonias at the supermarket that were just begging me to take them home. Natalie really liked planting those pretty pink flowers, and she is doing a great job!
Working in the dirt with Daddy. Of course, Nicole loves to work in the dirt also, and she always looks like a little dirt ball after she is finished!
We also made a terrarium of local forest fern using a simple Mason jar. I love watching the fern fronds uncurl, something I am sure I learned a long time ago but am rediscovering as teaching my children. We went for a hike last weekend and it was like a magical area with the dew settling on the unfurling fern fronds. (OK, I know I don't get out much!).
