While we are talking about Chic-fil-A, the girls and I also decided to participate in Cow Appreciation day for the second year in a row. We still had our basic costumes from last year, just had to make more ears and noses. So, we did that the day before and then headed out for lunch together. We put over our costumes in the car and walked into the mall decked out as cows. Of course, there wasn't a stampede of other cows in line to get free food. It was a little hard not to feel sheepish in line as other people were looking at us like we were definitely too far from the farm (the funny farm, that is!). Even one friend I knew acted like she didn't see us at first! But, the staff was most welcoming and even took our picture together to post on FB (I haven't seen it yet, though!). And, we got free meals for everyone, which I definitely say is worth every minute of spotted attire. We'll do it again next year as our tradition! Tuesday, July 19, 2011

We had such a fun time for almost a whole week doing Nicole's birthday celebration. We decided to have a small weekday party about a week before her birthday so that she could have some friends to celebrate. We went to a local jumping place to start. It was a lot of fun! Unfortunately, we didn't take pictures of everyone together, nor did most of the pictures come out. But, here is the birthday girl, glowing in the moment! Bouncing is best of course at this age!

Some of the kids, including both of ours, tried to climb the wall. It seemed that they wanted to "fall down" with the harness more than actually climb, though!

We then went to Chic-fil-A to get some kids meals and cake! That fit Nicole perfectly to bounce and then get one of her favorite food places!

Then, on her actual birthday, she had decorations up at the house and my parents were there to start the day with her! We had fun opening presents with them and then preparing for later that day to see Woody's parents too! What a great day to have both sets of grandparents!

We went to eat at a local Japanese restaurant for the show and good food.

Matinee
Poppa took Natalie, Nicole, and I to a matinee yesterday! It was Nicole's first experience in a true theater. Natalie had been once before to see "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" Veggie Tales with Woody & I. And, we had seen some other Veggie Tale premiers in our church's auditorium with Nicole. However, this was the first true movie theater experience for her!

We went to see African Cats, which was a really good Disney documentary type film. Natalie was really interested in the movie and stayed pretty much focused on it. Nicole was interested as long as popcorn was being eaten. Then, she moved on and off the flip seat about a thousand times! She was up, moving, down, talking. At one point, she did a really good recreation of the hyena sounds. However, most of the people around us were not impressed!
At least the animal chase and killing parts were toned down for little ones. That made a great difference in the way our kids enjoyed the movie!
I saw one smart mom up ahead of me that knew her way around the theater evidently who had a booster seat that she put her youngest on. I didn't know they provided such. I should have chased down the theater ticket man and asked where they had those. Of course, I saw them lined up on the way out! That might have made it a bit easier!
It was a good experience all in all, and the kids have a happy memory. It still blows me away, though, that 4 people can enter the theater for $6, but a few drinks and a couple of popcorns is $22.
