Matinee

Poppa took Natalie, Nicole, and I to a matinee yesterday! It was Nicole's first experience in a true theater. Natalie had been once before to see "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" Veggie Tales with Woody & I. And, we had seen some other Veggie Tale premiers in our church's auditorium with Nicole. However, this was the first true movie theater experience for her!

We went to see African Cats, which was a really good Disney documentary type film. Natalie was really interested in the movie and stayed pretty much focused on it. Nicole was interested as long as popcorn was being eaten. Then, she moved on and off the flip seat about a thousand times! She was up, moving, down, talking. At one point, she did a really good recreation of the hyena sounds. However, most of the people around us were not impressed!

At least the animal chase and killing parts were toned down for little ones. That made a great difference in the way our kids enjoyed the movie!

I saw one smart mom up ahead of me that knew her way around the theater evidently who had a booster seat that she put her youngest on. I didn't know they provided such. I should have chased down the theater ticket man and asked where they had those. Of course, I saw them lined up on the way out! That might have made it a bit easier!

It was a good experience all in all, and the kids have a happy memory. It still blows me away, though, that 4 people can enter the theater for $6, but a few drinks and a couple of popcorns is $22.
